Early closing of the school gates.

15th November 2009

The Late Campaign.

Dear Mums and Dads

The School Council recommends that parents and children show more responsibility in getting children to school on time so we are shutting the gate at 7.45am. If you are late you will have to go through the gates by security and check in at the reception desk. If anybody thinks that this is too harsh or mean - we have tried giving rewards to the classes that have everybody or most people in on time. Toy points were given out but this has not made much progress so failing that we are now shutting the gates at 7.45 am sharp. We will of course let the parents out - they don't want to stay at Kings' for the whole day!

Yours Sincerely

Harriet Edwards

****

We have recently been having a drive to ensure children are at school on time. We still have some children who are arriving at school after 7.45am, once the children have moved from the court and field into the classrooms. This causes repeated disruption to the start of the day, it also minimises the amount of independence children have in coming into school, putting their own belongings away and settling into the classroom.

The School Council - Rule Committee, have been discussing ways to combat the ongoing problem and would like to trial the earlier closing of the school gates (see above).

We will now be closing the main school gate at 7.45am.

All children arriving once the gates have been closed will need to report to security and sign in and then go to the main reception desk to get their attendance mark. This will be marked as late.

Parents leaving the premises will be asked to use the gate to the right of the car park, by the security office.

Please be reminded that the gates open at 7.30am. Children are requested to be on site by 7.40am so that lessons can commence at 7.45am.

Please help to make the start of each school day as smooth, productive and punctual as possible.

Kind regards

Debbie Watson
