It is with great pleasure that I announce the Kings' Dubai Head Boy and Girl for 2009 - 10:
Rory Quick and Eloise Bolt
Both students have been at Kings' Dubai for over 4 years and unanimously won the staff vote to take on the prestigious role.
Their effort, attitude and general positive manner made them firm favourites among staff and pupils alike.
Last Tuesday saw the biggest ever representation of children wanting to stand for the positions of House Captains. Out of the 46 children in Year 6, a staggering 39 children stood for the election. Congratulations to the following pupils who after a nerve wracking presentation to 100 people and a staff and pupil vote, won the coveted title of House Captain 2009-10:
Tudor Red: Hannah Jones & Jamal Ollier.
Stuart Blue: Molly Taylor & Adam Osborne
Hanover Green: Rose Haysom & James Dale
Windsor Yellow: Becky Edwards & Alec Bandy
I look forward to a successful year ahead with our newly elected House Captains and Head Pupils who I am sure will undertake their duties proudly.
The team camaraderie and spirit within in Year 6 really has been excellent. All pupils should all be commended for their attitude and effort.
Congratulations to all who took part.
Debbie Watson
Headteacher.
The procedure for the elections in Year 6 is as follows:
House Captains.
- A list of all candidates is placed in the staff room and all staff are invited to make one nomination for each position.
- Candidates make a short presentation in front of their year group peers, the year 5 children, myself, Mr Whitehead, the Year 5 and 6 class teachers and Teaching Assistants.
- At the end of ALL presentations votes are made through secret ballot. Children are only allowed to cast one vote. They are only allowed to vote for candidates in their own house group.
- The votes from the children are added to the votes cast by staff to determine the winner.
Head Boy and Head Girl.
- The votes cast by staff only are used to make this decision. The Headteacher reserves the right to challenge and overrule any result if it is inappropriate or unfair in any way.
School Council Repesentatives.
- After the announcement of House Captains, children who took part in the presentations are then asked if they would still like to be considered for School Council.
- A vote is made within the class to elect one boy and one girl representative for each class.
