Kings’ Dubai offers a quality of educational experience which replicates the high standards of achievement at the best Preparatory and State Schools in England. The holistic character of our approach places the National Curriculum for England, supported and augmented by wide ranging extra-curricular activities at the heart of our educational provision. We aim to develop an environment where happy, confident and well adjusted children acquire an enthusiasm for learning and take a full share in the corporate life of the School. Progress and success are of the utmost value.
The Curriculum, enriched through a variety of carefully planned activities, including fieldwork and visits is broad and challenging. Children’s work is continuously monitored and assessed and progress regularly reported to parents. Assessment for Learning is key and children’s individual learning journals report progress and set targets for development to children through individual conferencing with teachers.
Academic achievement at Kings’ Dubai is outstanding. Key Stage Two Standard Assessment Tests are externally marked to give comparison to UK standards, and results indicate that performance in all subjects well exceeds National averages.
In the Foundation Stage from the age of 3, children’s academic, physical, social, artistic and emotional development is encouraged within a balanced and structured approach to learning based on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Curriculum. Key Stage One (Years 1 and 2) and Key Stage Two (Years 3–6) follow the National Curriculum for England complemented by local elements. A thematic approach is adopted to foster learning across the curriculum, placing an emphasis on developing key skills.
As children progress through the School an increasing amount of their work is taught by subject specialists. Literacy and numeracy are seen as the cornerstones of the curriculum and life sciences, humanities, ICT, physical education and the creative and performing arts give each pupil a breadth of educational experience and the academic depth in preparation for the challenges of the senior school phase.
