Newsletter October 2008

Dear Parents and Children

Eid Mubarak and welcome back to what is already proving to be a very busy term. Ramadan at the start of the academic year inevitably poses issues with the settling in for the new year as timings and arrangements are different to normal. Thank you for your patience, understanding and cooperation during this period. It is great to be operating to our regular times and able to get going with the full curriculum. A reminder to all, the timings of the school day are as follows:

 FS1FS2KS1 & 2
Sunday-Wednesday7.45 - 12.307.45 - 13.307.45 - 14.30
Thursday7.45 - 12.157.45 - 12.307.45 - 12.30

It is with great pleasure that I am able to announce the Head Boy, Head Girl and House Captains for the forthcoming academic year.

The children in Year 6 were asked to nominate themselves for the position of House Captain and state whether they would like to be considered for Head Boy or Girl.

Each nominee was then expected to give a presentation about themselves to the Year 5 and 6 pupils and a panel of 8 staff (including myself). The children and teachers cast their votes based on the presentations

In addition to this, candidates for Head Boy and Girl were posted on the staffroom notice board and other members of staff were encouraged to make a selection.

I am pleased to confirm the following for Academic Year 2008-09:

Head Boy:Matthew Bird
Head Girl:Catherine Grimshaw
Red Tudor House Captains:Patrick Grainger and Jemima Brimacombe
Blue Stuart House Captains:James Rankin and Sophie Pruim
Green Hanover House Captains:Oscar Chapman and Emily Niblett
Yellow Windsor House Captains:William Luckham-Down and Aleisha Murphy

It was a very tough competition and congratulations must go to all of the Year 6 who presented. They gave an outstanding performance.

Whilst commending the Year 6 I must also express my sincere thanks to the children who recently acted as Tour Guides for our Open Day and Evening.

Each year at this time we hold open day and evening viewings for families who are on the waiting list or who are interested in Kings’. Our Year 6 tour guides escorted groups of up to 6 adults around the school and gave them a very enlightening experience with their thoughts ideas and opinions! They were very proud to show off their school and the feedback from the visitors was extremely positive.

As you can see from the number of entries in this Newsletter, we have a very busy time ahead. We always endeavor to keep parents well informed of activities in school and acknowledge that of late the communication has not been to our usual high standard. Your comments and thoughts are much appreciated as we are continually striving to improve our systems.

May I take this opportunity to, as always thank you for your dedication and support.

Best wishes

Mrs Debbie Watson

Headteacher
