Dear Parents,

As new Headteacher at Kings' Dubai I am delighted to welcome you back to school. The team and I have enjoyed preparing you for the start of term and we are excited about the learning opportunities planned for this term and the year ahead.  We will of course continue to post key dates on the website and the screens in school.  The two screens by the main doors will be the touch points for key information in school.  A few things I would like to draw your attention to at this early stage include: 

Reading / Book Banding Workshop

On Thursday 15th September we held a book banding workshop in the school hall at 1pm to learn how reading books have been reorganised and how you can support your child's reading journey under this new improved system for broadening children's reading skills.  This workshop will be repeated, please check the website for the next date.

Coffee Afternoons

Each week this term I will be hosting a session with parents from a different year group. The session will allow us to get to know each other as well as give the parents an opportunity to gain a deeper insight into  how the school is developing.  The first time we meet I will share my philosophy and give you a flavour of how we are enhancing learning this term.  The coffee afternoons have been scheduled as follows:

Class Name Challenge

As one of our school priorities is developing thinking skills we would like to set the children the challenge of coming up with creative class names within the "Kings'" concept.  We have launched this in assembly on the first day of term and would very much like you to talk to your children about their thoughts / ideas.  Each teacher will discuss this with their children and ideas will be forwarded from each class.  We hope to be able to announce the new class names in week two assembly!

Parent Time

This will start on 29th September from 1pm - 1:30pm and we hope your children will be excited to show you their learning from the first three weeks.

After-school Clubs

These will start in week three (week commencing 25th September).  Sign-up for the external clubs is on Sunday 18th September from 2:10 - 2:50 in the main hall.

Meet the Teacher

This will take place on Tuesday 20th September.  You will have time in the hall with me as well as in the classrooms with new teachers, as follows:

Assessments will take place next week which will quickly allow us to make any necessary adjustments to groupings.
