This includes recommended shoe styles. Please note Section 5.2 Jewellrey and Section 5.3 Hair Styles. School blazers can be worn at any time.
Cricket
Kings’ Dubai School vs Dubai British School – Thursday 3rd February 2011 DBS won the toss and set Kings’ to bat first. The highest run maker was Jack Potter 5LS who made a super score of 17. He was followed by the score of 16 made by Harry Woods 6LB. The highest wicket haul was by Ross Vintcent 4CF on his debut who took 5 wickets. Close behind were Yash Bhansali, Tom Thornley, Jack Potter, Ben Osborne, Harry Woods and Oliver Gregory with 2 wickets a piece. Over all we all enjoyed the match and look forward to playing DBS again. Both teams played extremely well and fortunately Kings’ Dubai won with a successful score of 136 to DBS’s respectable score of 125! Captain: Tom Thornley Man of the match: Ross Vintcent for his 5 wickets and an amazingly athletic catch at mid-on. Next game: Wednesday 9th February at Raffles School versus Horizon. Report written by Yash Bhansali and Jack Potter 5LS.
Car Boot Sale
The Car Boot Sale, as the longest standing VOKs event is always popular and successful. This year was no exception. Pitches sold out in record time and we were overwhelmed with donations. The day was bright and sunny despite forecasts of rain and we managed to avoid the Shamaal - thankfully.A great time was had by all and a healthy AED11,419.50 was raised.Thank you to the team: Kate Gravestock, Roberta Rees, Nicola Fullwood, Sarah Fielder, Caroline McLaughlin, Leanne Duncan, Astrid Dando, Lisa Meli, Paul Bandy and all the Kings’ staff and parent volunteers who helped on the day.
Litter
Unfortunately there has been an increasing volume of litter left in the school grounds at the end of the school day. Please encourage your child/children to use the bins and note that food and drink must not be consumed on school premises as the students are leaving at the end of the day. Thank you.
Footpath Safety
When entering the school when the main gates are locked via the electronic gate entrance, please enter via the black paving path footpath that leads to the security office. Do not enter until the gate is fully opened and you can see that there is no through traffic. Do not let children wander across the car park and driveway.
Headteacher/CEO
Thank you to those parents who don’t know me for introducing yourselves over the past few weeks. It has been good to have such a warm welcome back from the children also. I felt well and truly put in my place however, when one young observer told me that I ‘must be very old now’ as it is years since I was Headteacher! With every good wish.
Kevin Stedman
Headteacher
Note of Thanks from Debbie Watson
Dear Parents and Friends
Now that the busy Winter holidays have passed and last term seems quite a distant memory, I am able to find some quiet time to write to you to thank you for the lovely and very generous gifts presented to me at the end of last term. The stunning jewellery is exquisite and worn at every opportunity! The two pieces of art work are proudly hung and I think of school every time I look at them. They will be treasured for many years to come. I was so overwhelmed by the amazing send off I received that is only afterwards I have really had time to reflect on it all. I have spent lots of time looking at photos, re-reading cards, messages and letters and really appreciating what an amazing end to my time at Kings’ I had. Sincere thanks to those parents, particularly Mrs Morgan, Mrs Edwards, Mr Quick , Mr Ollier and Mrs Tappuni for the wonderful "This is your life" tribute - a great amount of time had clearly been spent preparing that! Life is already very different and although I miss school tremendously, know it is in safe hands and will move on. I am looking forward to the next chapter of my career – being a mum! Please do keep in touch –it has been lovely seeing many familiar faces around Dubai – please do stop to say hello if you see me out and about! I regularly get updates from Mr Stedman and of course Mr Watson as to how things are going and am still very interested to hear about what the children are doing Kings’ is a very special place that will always hold many happy memories. With kind wishes and thanks once again.
