Music plays a central role in the life of the students at Kings´ Dubai both within the school day and during extra curricular opportunities. The curriculum enables children to compose, perform and listen to music from a range of genres and styles.
Children learn both graphic and staff notation and have the opportunity to use tuned and untuned percussion and electronic keyboards. The use of music technology supports learning with children from Years 1-6 using a number of notation and composition programs.
Children regularly perform and are encouraged to use self assessment and peer appraisal to enhance and develop composition skills. The whole school also gathers together once a week to sing.
Outside the curriculum children are offered a number of opportunities including individual peripatetic lessons, percussion, guitar and keyboard clubs. There are also Key Stage 1 and 2 Choirs.
Performance opportunities are offered at the end of each term in the form either of a whole school production written specifically for our pupils, or a concert to celebrate our students´ achievements.
