Year 6 Football update
Tuesday, 10 January 2012
The Year 6 footballers have improved considerably over the last few months. They have put in some excellent displays against schools that are normally competing for trophies. Defensively we have conceded the fewest goals in the league, unfortunately however we have also scored very few goals which has been our achilles heel all year. Our defending has been rock solid and each of the defenders that represented the school have put in excellent performances. One person that deserves credit for this is goalkeeper Jack Norman. Jack was awarded 'Man of the Match' in his very first game and has had some excellent performances since. Hopefully 2012 will bring with it some goals for the Year 6 team.Players who represented Year 6 since September are: Jack Norman, Fin Brash, Keanu Boucher, Cameron Matthews, Elliot Crossley, Peter Dalem, Mark Baxter, Patrick Dowling, Ben Williams, Tom Watson, Marc Dummar.

Year 3 Football - End of Season Report

Year 3 is when we first start playing competitive football against other schools, so this term a brand new Kings’ team began its football adventure. After several weeks of training with the master tactician Mr. Macleod, they played their first match against Wellington International School.

The Wellington players were quick and very skilful but, with brilliant teamwork and determination, our Year 3s managed to take the lead. Archie Woods scored a spectacular goal, lobbing their goalie from long range. Unfortunately, we then gave away a penalty and so the game ended with a 1 -1 draw.

The following week we beat Star International School 1 - 0, with the ever-impressive Archie again scoring for Kings’. These successes were followed by four tremendous matches at the Finals at Jebel Ali Primary School. The outstanding features of these matches were the terrific goal scored by Callum Rose, the unbeatable defending by Charlie Boswell and Keanu Nelson and the tireless efforts of Archie Woods (the team captain). Year 3 defended so well that their goalkeeper, Tom Rietjens, hardly had anything to do! When needed he did make some wonderful saves but no-one could have stopped the only goal scored against us that flew like a cannonball into the top corner.

It has been an extremely impressive start for this new young team. They have all played with great teamwork, skill, maturity and strength. We are all very excited about the future for this team.

Kings’ Suffers  heartache in Final Penalty Shootout

Kings’ travelled to Rashid School for Boys in the Sony Football finals and were drawn against Wellington Academy in their first game. They started off slowly in their first 10 minute game and were the better side although could only manage a 0-0 draw. In the second game against Deira School they were much more positive in front of goal and were rewarded with a 2-0 win. In their final pool game they managed to continue to play some lovely football and beat World Academy 2-0. This result saw them through to the final against JESS Jumeirah. It was a very  tense final with both sides having chances and Kings’ hitting the post mid way through the game. With the scores locked at 0-0 at the end of the game it went down to 5 minutes sudden death. The teams could still not be separated so it came down to dreaded penalties.Unfortunately Kings’ narrowly lost out 4-3 and had to settle for the runners up medals.

The whole squad of Daniel Martin Williams, Laith Roubaie, Louis Batstone, Peter Dalem, Jeremy Pontefract, Ben Osborne, Alessandro Angelucci, Jay Mullane and Max Powell showed great spirit and sportsmanship throughout the competition and have made massive strides with their football this year.

Well done boys. A big thank you to Mr Greenlees for coaching them so well this year.
