This year's chosen charities are The Dhaka Project (http://www.thedhakaproject.org/) and Dubai Centre for Special Needs (http://www.dcsneeds,ae/). We look forward to making strong links with these organisations in the near future.

THE KINGS' DUBAI GRAND BALL

Last Thursday evening saw a very glamourous side to our parent body as they donned their posh frocks and headed to the Jumeirah Beach Hotel for the 3rd Kings' Dubai Grand Ball. An outstanding night of entertainment delighted over three hundred parents and friends in support of the selected school charities: K9 friends and The Red Cross.

The VOKs ball committee made up of a group of very dedicated parents had organised a superb event which raised almost 100, 000 AED for the charities. This is a staggering amount although the final figure is yet to be tallied and we will report it you once calculated.

Thank you to all, for their generosity and kindness. Could all those who pledged bids in the auction please arrange to come into school to collect their items. The event was sponsored by many local businesses and our sincere thanks go to them all. The full details of the event will posted on our website along with photographs of the night.

Sincere thanks must go to Susanne Williams and Gillian Tappuni who co-ordinated the teams. A very special thank you to Mr Paul Scally who made very generous donations to the evening, including securing and bringing out from the UK, the very talented Matthew Crane, a young 17 year old baritone singer who is sure to be a name to watch for the future. Paul was also the MC for the evening and did a wonderful job.

A very enjoyable evening shared by many. Thank you to all who contributed to make it happen.

VOKS EVENTS.
Thursday, 24 September 2009

There was a meeting last week for all Volunteers of Kings'. It was the best attended meeting to date with lots of keen parents offering their support, skills and talents. Thank you to all who attended and offered their support.

After a very successsful meeting, some of the dates of planned events have been changed. Please ensure you check the calendar for the amendments.

Teams have been established with key link people for each major event. If you are a parent (or Grandparent, Auntie, Uncle, Friend!) with some spare time, lots of energy and a good sense of humour then please offer your services to support any of the events planned. Simply contact the parent listed as link person, or watch out for news on the notice boards to the front of school as events approach.

It really would be fantastic to see even more parents joining the  spirit of Kings' to help plan and organise social events for the children and families in our community. You can offer as much or as little time as you would like - it is all very much appreciated.
